Golden Era

Community Grassland Restoration

We converted 8 acres of degraded & barren land into a functional grassland for village cattle and other animals in Bharapar Village, Abdasa district of Kachchh. Our main challenges were overgrazing, dealing with invasive species (P. julifera), and lack of water. Our interventions revolved around watershed management, soil conservation, and reviving more than 120 indigenous and dominant grass species. A plot touted to remain barren forever by the villagers –this grassland is now on its way to become a regenerative diverse grassland.
